Mobile Search SEO & Mobile Search Advertising
Use of smart phones with full browser displays such as iPhone and Android has skyrocketed, driving a rapid shift to the mobile platform and dramatically increasing mobile queries. In fact, the growth rate in the mobile search usage in the third quarter of 2010 Google saw a 130% growth year over year for example.
Greatly increased Internet speeds on mobile devices will accelerate this evolution in how consumers search for and use online content. Mobile search marketing is much different than search marketing on a computer. Not only is user behavior different (as voice recognition often becomes preferred over typing), but geo-location and social signals often produce different results than on a computer.
Mobile Statistics
Half a billion people accessed mobile Internet worldwide in 2009. Usage is expected to double within five years as mobile overtakes the PC as the most popular way to get on the Web.
“People are accessing our products and services through their mobile phones are adding a billion dollars annually to our existing revenue streams. Clearly this is the future of search on the Internet. More people in more countries are coming online from smartphones. Our mobile search queries have grown five times over the last couple of years,” – Jonathan Rosenberg, SVP, Google (October 2010).
The number of people accessing the mobile Internet is growing fast and is expected to overtake the PC as the most popular way to get on the Web within five years. There is no doubt the impact that mobile will have on the search landscape.
